Polarizing Wedges
Halbo Optics is closed for business - see Homepage
These single calcite wedges provide a simple means of separating the polarization components of an input beam. They have the advantage of being inexpensive and able to accept the highest power levels, but produce two output beams that are not collinear with the input beam.

Separation Angle
The separation angle can be varied to suit customer requirements by changing the cut angle. Note, however, that the angular separation between them is determined by the wedge angle and the wavelength. The wedges are chromatic.
Standard Wedges
The standard wedge angle is 20°, producing a separation of 3·5° at 500nm: the deviation of either the ordinary or extraordinary beams can be varied by selection of the wedge angle.
Custom Polarizing Wedge
When enquiring about a custom special, simply specify the aperture, separation angle and wavelength of operation. Contact us at sales@halbo.com, and we will send you a quotation by return.
Mounts
These polarizers are supplied unmounted as free components unless mounting is specified at the time of ordering. The mount design gives open access to input and output beams and facilitates occasional cleaning. To specify mounted polarizers, simply add suffix:
M1 for Type 1 mount (shown)
RM4 for Type 4 rotation mount
