Fixed Optical Rotators
Halbo Optics is closed for business - see Homepage
|
When a plane polarized beam propagates down the optic axis of crystalline quartz, it is rotated clockwise or anti-clockwise (looking back into the beam), depending on whether the quartz is dextro- or laevo- rotatory. The rotation angle is determined by the product of specific optical rotary power (°/mm) and thickness (mm). Our optical rotators are a plane parallel window of synthetic crystal quartz with the c axis normal to the surface. Parallelism of the input/output surfaces is less than 3 minutes of arc.

Custom Rotators
If the rotator you require is not listed in the specification table below, we can fabricate specials to order. When enquiring about a custom special, simply specify the aperture, rotation angle and wavelength of operation. Contact us at sales@halbo.com, and we will send you a quotation by return.

Mounts
Optical rotators can be supplied unmounted as free components or mounted as shown. The mount comprises a black anodised aluminium ring with silicone rubber shock absorbing material between the ring and the rotator. To specify mounted rotators, simply add suffix:
M3 for Type 3 mount (shown)
