Component Mounts

Halbo Optics is closed for business - see Homepage

All the polarizing optical components listed in this catalog can be supplied mounted for ease of customer use. We supply five styles of component mount and two rotation stages:

Standard-Mount types 1, 2, 3 (add suffix M1, M2 or M3 to the part number):

Type 1, a bored and slotted cylinder, is designed for components requiring three or four beam access, such as Polarizing Beam Combiners, Brewster Angle polarizers and Hi-Power Glan Taylor polarizers to 20mm aperture. There is space to enable cleaning of the surfaces. This mount is designed for side clamping. To specify mount type 1 add suffix M1 to the part number. Bore slotted mount
Type 2, a plain tube with silicone rubber shock absorber, is designed for relatively long components requiring collinear input and output beam access, such as beam displacers and Glan Thompson polarizers to 20mm aperture. This mount is designed for side clamping. To specify mount type 2 add suffix M2 to the part number. Tube mount
Type 3, a plain retaining ring, is designed for relatively thin components requiring input and output beam access, such as depolarizers, Savart plates, optical rotators and achromatic retardation plates. Depolarizers, optical rotators and Savart plates are silicone rubber soft mounted, while retardation plates, being very thin, are hard mounted. This mount is designed for both face and side clamping. To specify mount type 3 add suffix M3 to the part number. Ring mount

When ordering a standard-mounted component, simply add to the part number the suffix M followed
by the mount type number. i.e. a standard Glan Taylor polarizer with a 10mm aperture in a type 1
mount is: - PS10M1.

Rotation-Mount types 4, 5 (add suffix RM4 or RM5 to the part number):

Type 4, a 'top hat' design, has been recently introduced to enable relatively short polarizers up to 10mm aperture to be mounted in our new rotation stages (see below) with a threaded one inch bore. To specify mount type 4 add suffix RM4 to the part number. Bore slotted mount for rotation stages
Type 5, also a 'top hat' design with silicone rubber, for longer components, such as Glan Thompson polarizers and long beam displacers up to 12mm aperture, is similarly meant for mounting in our new rotation stages (see below) with a threaded one inch bore. To specify mount type 5 add suffix RM5 to the part number. Tube mount for rotation stages

When ordering a type 4 or type 5 mounted component, simply add to the part number the suffix RM followed by the mount type number. i.e. a standard Glan Taylor polarizer with a 10mm aperture in a rotational type 4 mount is: - PS10RM4.

All mounts are made from aluminium alloy, are black anodised for durability and have the part number permanently engraved. As well as standard mount diameters and lengths, we can supply special mounts to suit customers' requirements.

Rotation Stages

Rotation Stages are available in two designs:

Type RS1

A compact rotation stage for simple post mounting.
